No future without responsibility
For economic and sustainable cooperation
At Klingele, sustainable development is at the centre of our actions and has the highest priority at management level. Our aim is to combine economic activity with ecological and social responsibility.
Sustainability is a regular and central topic at every management meeting. Under the term ESG (environmental, social and governance), we deal with topics such as energy management, strategies for reducing emissions, the well-being of our employees, supply chain transparency and ethical corporate governance.
With our comprehensive concept of the circular economy, the manufacturing of recyclable products and our active membership of leading associations and organisations, we are getting closer to this goal every day.
Circular economy in the production of packaging solutions
Keep materials and products in use for as long as possible
From raw materials to production, distribution and recycling, our solutions offer a holistic approach to packaging and contribute to achieving sustainability goals. The circular economy is a key strategic element and in line with the European Commission's goals for a climate-neutral Europe by 2050. Materials and products should be reused, refurbished and recycled for as long as possible.
Our processes are strictly bound by the requirements of the Packaging Act, which forms the basis for a successful circular economy and sustainable packaging. With our recyclable packaging materials and measures for resource-saving production and energy supply, we not only contribute to this, but are also pioneers.
Choose recyclable packaging materials and support the circular economy!
Corrugated cardboard - a valuable raw material in the recycling loop
Corrugated cardboard is more than just waste after use - it is a valuable raw material that sets the recycling cycle in motion. With an impressive recycling rate of 95.3 per cent , used corrugated cardboard plays a crucial role in an efficient circular economy and makes a significant contribution to conserving resources. Through a process of dissolving the used cardboard in water it can be recycled and processed into new packaging, which further increases its ecological value.
Paper fibres with up to 20 life cycles
The used corrugated cardboard packaging is recycled and used again as a raw material for the paper industry. Thanks to the quality and recyclability of Corrugated cardboard, this cycle can be repeated up to 20 times.
Responsible forestry & kraftliner production
Our mill in Brazil produces robust and durable kraftliner paper made from virgin pine and eucalyptus fibres sourced from FSC®-certified sources for sustainable forestry and controlled wood. This certification ensures that the forests are sustainably managed and regenerated. Our plant also generates its own energy through hydropower and biomass, significantly reducing its ecological footprint and, in particular, fossil CO2 emissions. The operation is based entirely on renewable energy sources.
"As technologies evolve, we work as a team to develop packaging concepts. By working together with our customers, we offer packaging solutions that are innovative, recyclable and efficient."
Christian Hössle, Head of Packaging Development
Our products
Our commitment to pioneering packaging and paper solutions
At Klingele, we are committed to developing sustainable packaging and paper products that conserve resources, keep materials in circulation and reduce waste.
In view of the growing demand for environmentally friendly solutions, we believe we are on the right track, as our packaging and paper products are reusable, recyclable or compostable.
Innovation is at the centre of everything we do: we develop new solutions to strengthen the material cycle and work closely with our customers and partners to make progress together.
We consider the environmental impact of our products at every stage of the value chain - from the responsible sourcing of raw materials and the efficient use of materials to sustainable design and environmentally friendly disposal.
Memberships and commitment
Klingele is strongly committed to environmentally friendly solutions in the corrugated cardboard industry and is active in important industry associations. Our aim is to reduce the CO2 footprint and at the same time promote recyclable packaging solutions - in Germany, across Europe and globally.
As part of this commitment, we are a member of renowned associations such as "Die Papierindustrie", CEPI Containerboard and the World Containerboard Organisation. These memberships emphasise our support for the pulp and paper industry at all levels.
Klingele has a strong presence within the corrugated cardboard industry. Our Managing Director, Dr Jan Klingele, was Vice-Chairman of the ICCA until June 2023 and previously President of FEFCO and VDW. This commitment has a long tradition with us. Dr Werner Klingele, father of Dr Jan Klingele, laid the foundation for our strong commitment to the industry early on as a co-founder of FEFCO and ICCA.
