Since 1962, the hydroelectric power plant in Catas Altas has made a significant contribution to the energy supply for paper production. With 12 employees, it generates over 20 GWh of electricity annually, covering approximately 20% of the electrical energy requirements of the Nova Campina paper mill 50 km away, and relies on the environmentally friendly power of water.
