On Wednesday 10 August, during the summer recess, Ralph Edelhäußer, directly elected member of the Bundestag, visited the Klingele corrugated cardboard plant in Hilpoltstein.

On 10 August 2022, the Klingele Paper & Packaging Group, one of the leading independent manufacturers of corrugated board and corrugated board packaging, received a visit from Mr Ralph Edelhäußer, a directly elected member of the Bundestag. He was accompanied by Ulla Dietzel, Christoph Raithel and Mortiz Krug, CSU members of Hilpoltstein town council.

The family-owned company, founded in 1920 and headquartered in Remshalden near Stuttgart, is now managed by Dr Jan Klingele, the third generation of his family to do so. The Klingele corrugated cardboard plant in Hilpoltstein is one of four German corrugated cardboard plants and currently employs 215 people. Mr Edelhäußer is taking advantage of the summer recess in Berlin to visit local companies and find out how he can support his constituency of Roth and Nuremberg County politically.

During his tour of the plant, he was able to learn about the corrugated board manufacturing process and the production of innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for numerous industries and applications. ‘At Klingele, we set high standards for quality, production safety, environmental protection and sustainability in our day-to-day operations,’ explains Mr Meier, sales manager at Klingele Hilpoltstein. Mr Edelhäußer notes that Dr Klingele recognised certain trends early on and is successfully keeping the company on a high course with forward-looking investments in modern machinery and in an efficient and sustainable energy supply.

In addition to a new folding box gluing machine that is currently being installed, part of the roof of the corrugated board plant in Hilpoltstein was equipped with a photovoltaic system in May/June of this year to enable the plant to supply its own electricity to the production facility. Klingele also scores points in terms of sustainability. ‘I'm surprised at how high the recycling rate for paper and corrugated board is,’ says Ralph Edelhäußer, because paper fibres can be reused up to 25 times in the recycling process. Klingele Hilpoltstein was very pleased to welcome the interested visitors from the CSU party, including Mr Edelhäußer and members of the Hilpoltstein city council.
