Monaghan Mushrooms success story
Sustainable growth needs the right culture - and good logistics
Nature sets the pace for mushroom producer Monaghan Mushrooms. When the mushrooms are ripe for harvesting, the Wellpappe packaging must be available on demand and just-in-time.
Consumers are increasingly critical of the high level of meat consumption and are increasingly turning to vegetarian alternatives. This is also leading to rising sales figures at Monaghan, which quickly revealed potential for optimisation in the logistics process.
Optimised logistics process thanks to short distances and a dedicated carton erector
- Due to the increasing sales figures, the desire for an optimised logistics process grew.
- The company was looking for a process that would have a positive impact on the eco-balance and the budget.
- The Klingele packaging experts analysed the weaknesses of the existing packaging and explored alternatives.
- The packaging and shipping process was quite complex for a long time: By the end of 2018, the Venlo site had received all the crates delivered flat.
- They were then all erected in Venlo and some of them were then transported to Laichingen in Baden-Württemberg.
- The core element of the new solution is a carton erector, which has been in use in Laichingen since January 2019
- It erects the crates, which are now delivered flat from our plant in nearby Grunbach
- Single point of contact: Klingele Golfkarton is the point of contact for several plants in the Klingele Group
- Thanks to the new carton erector, the logistics process is now faster and more flexible
- Monaghan also saves a significant amount on transport costs
- Point of contact for machine technology, regional presence, sustainable products and efficient customer service
- There is also no need to forego international reach: We are currently discussing a collaboration with Monaghan in the target markets of England and Ireland via our alliance of Blue Box Partner. This alliance brings together manufacturers of corrugated packaging in all major European markets
Monaghan is just as much a family business as Klingele, and in our experience the associated corporate culture ensures a greater commitment to long-term high quality and faster decision-making.
