Coloured by Klingele: CorruCUT sets new standards in packaging printing

Corrugated cardboard carrier bag

As a brand owner, you need an effective way of addressing your customers at the point of sale, where purchasing decisions are made. And here, a picture is worth a thousand words: our new CorruCUT in Werne delivers this for your packaging in razor-sharp photo quality. Now all you need is the right motif.

High-quality printed packaging plays an important role in achieving your sales and marketing goals. How well it stands out at the point of sale and how well it conveys your brand message depends to a large extent on the packaging and its printed image. Colour turns it into an advertising medium that creates emotion and recognition. To support you in this, we have once again expanded our capacity in the area of high-quality packaging printing with a new High Board Line CorruCUT rotary die-cutter from Koenig & Bauer at our plant in Werne. It is scheduled to go into operation at the end of October.

High productivity, quality and colour brilliance

We have already installed a press of the same type in Delmenhorst in 2020, and we can't complain about a lack of capacity utilisation. For the new model in Werne, Koenig & Bauer has used a new doctor blade system for better ink application and redesigned the printing units. Above all, however, drying has been further optimised by an infrared lamp with high output and an additional air duct, which also benefits the print quality.

The CorruCUT is designed for a maximum sheet width of 2.80 metres and an output of up to 12,000 sheets per hour. This means that it is not only highly productive, but can also print larger packaging in high quality. The highest quality standards have been applied to the entire production process: To begin with, a vacuum belt feeder ensures that the sheets are fed into the machine precisely and gently. State-of-the-art servo direct drive technology ensures maximum register accuracy in multi-colour printing. A camera system ensures consistent and reliable quality control; the machine recognises faulty sheets and ejects them automatically. But most importantly, with its six colours including coating, the CorruCUT achieves lifelike print results even on uncoated surfaces - and produces the overall quality of a high-gloss catalogue.

Printing expertise for all requirements - and in all plants

Having invested heavily in state-of-the-art printing technology in recent years, our corrugated cardboard plants now have machines with up to seven colours ready to meet the most demanding requirements:

Our flatbed die-cutters with up to seven colour units can die-cut almost any contour and have short set-up times - making them ideal for a wide range of print runs. Our rotary die-cutters with up to six colours are highly productive, enable efficient production and are therefore ideal for large quantities. Folding and corrugated boxes can also be printed highly productively and impressively on our inline machine with up to six colours, even in small and medium quantities. We supply top image quality as standard with every variant.

Successful partnership with Koenig & Bauer continues

The CorruCUT is the result of close co-operation between us and Koenig & Bauer and represents a significant advancement in printing technology for the packaging industry. The latest model in Werne was also developed by Koenig & Bauer optimised in line with our feedback.

Koenig & Bauer is the oldest printing press manufacturer in the world; it has the broadest product programme in the industry and is a leader in many printing processes. On this basis, Koenig & Bauer was able to integrate many functions from other systems into the CorruCUT; at the same time, our decades of knowledge from the Wellpappe sector were incorporated into the machine configuration. With a great result, as many of our customers would agree.

Not there yet? Then it's time: you shouldn't miss out on the strengths that high-quality packaging brings to the table when addressing customers.
