Remshalden/Stuttgart, 21 January 2015 – The Klingele Group, one of the leading independent manufacturers of corrugated raw paper cardboard and packaging made from corrugated cardboard, has received a World Star Award in the Drinks category from the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) for single shipment packaging for glass bottles. This means that Klingele also strengthens its position as a supplier of innovative packaging solutions for E-commerce in international competition. A jury presents awards to innovative packaging concepts from suppliers around the globe in the World Star competition. The World Star Award is therefore probably the most important international packaging award.
Klingele's award-winning packaging, single shipment packaging for glass bottles, features integrated padding that provides maximum protection against breakage and damage. The all-in-one packaging consists entirely of corrugated cardboard; it is therefore not only a sustainable and 100% recyclable solution, but also reduces disposal costs and saves money. The internal padding can also be printed effectively for advertising purposes. The packaging can be assembled on machines as well as manually. This combination of an ingenious design, high level of product protection, efficient use of materials, advertising effectiveness and environmental compatibility obviously impressed the jury.
The conditions for participating in the World Star Award included, amongst other things, that the packaging submitted had already received an award in its country of origin. Klingele already received a "Golden Wave" in 2014 in the competition run by the Verband der Wellpappen-Industrie e.V. (VDW) for the packaging concept for which it has now received the World Star Award. The jury were very positive in particular about the high level of product packaging, good design and simple handling of the packaging.
"We are delighted to receive the World Star Award and we are particularly pleased that our expertise in packaging development has been recognised with the world's highest award", states Dr. Jan Klingele, CEO of the Klingele Group. "In E-commerce in particular, an industry that is growing dynamically and is strategically important to us, customised and intelligent packaging solutions are in increasing demand. The World Star Award is therefore an important signal to our customers that we use our research and development capacities systematically and successfully and take important requirements, such as sustainability and resource efficiency, into account at the same time".
