18.01.2011 – Klingele Papierwerke in Remshalden has obtained DHL packaging certification for its beer bottle packaging for dispatch by post. The manufacturer of corrugated packaging and containerboard is the only company in the German corrugated cardboard sector to have achieved postal certification for this kind of packaging. The new certification is an extension of the original certification which the company has possessed for ten years. In order to extend the scope of the certification, the packaging design was optimized and its format was simplified. The packaging system is now approved for the dispatch of 6, 12, and 18 bottles. The corrugated packaging consists of a sleeve system along with outer packaging and can be used to transport 0.33 and 0.5 litre bottles without breaking them.
Quick packing thanks to simple format
The sleeve system has an integrated base and consists of BE-fluting. In combination with the outer packaging - which consists of strong BC-fluting - the postage packaging ensures the safe transport of the bottles. The sleeves, which completely enclose the bottles in the pack, are designed to be put together in no time at all. "This packaging system can be constructed ready for filling in a flash" says Florian Steinle, senior packaging developer at Klingele. "In addition, the system has passed extensive fall tests conducted by the postal service. These tests demand that the bottles remain undamaged and that not a single drop of liquid escapes."
Norpack, a subsidiary of the Klingele Group, manufactures the certified postal packaging. In addition to the standard printing of the relevant DHL test number, customers can also choose to have the various beer bottle packaging variants supplied with individual printing.
